“Honouring Mrs. Damyanti V. Tambay’s Inspiring Journey”

Yesterday, I had the immense privilege of welcoming Mrs. Damyanti V. Tambay to my office — a moment I will cherish forever.

Mrs. Tambay is not only the President of the War Widows Association, tirelessly working to uphold the dignity and rights of Veer Naris across India, but also an Arjuna Awardee and a six-time national badminton champion. Her strength, grace, and resilience are deeply inspiring.

As the wife of a brave heart (Flt Lt V.V Tambay) who went missing during the 1971 war and is still listed among the POWs believed to be in Pakistan, her story is one of unimaginable courage. Yet, she chose to rise, lead, and empower countless others through her journey.

Spending time with her was a powerful reminder of the silent sacrifices made by our soldiers’ families and the indomitable spirit of our nation’s daughters.

Thank you, ma’am, for your visit and for being a beacon of strength and inspiration.
